On August 17 before we left Sapporo for Lake Toya we went to the 28th floor of our hotel. The 28th floor is called the Sky Lounge. Here's a bird's-eye view of Sapporo. It's a little small, but I couldn't make it bigger without distorting the picture. Clicking on the photo may make it larger and more impressive. :)

It took a couple of hours to drive to Lake Toya from Sapporo, but it was completely worth it. It was so beautiful. And for all my fellow science nerds, er, I mean friends, Lake Toya is a caldera. For the non-science folks, it's a geographic formation that occurs when a volcano collapses into itself. Crater Lake in Oregon is a famous caldera in the States. The "island" in the middle of Lake Toya is the former peak of the volcano.

Below is a 360 degree view from in front of our hotel. It goes a little quick. The orangish-colored hotel is where we stayed.
Here's Addy and me taking a walk along the lake front in traditional Japanese summer attire, called yukata.

A snack in the hotel room.
We had a Traditional Japanese dinner served to us in our room. Each dish was served on an individual plate or bowl. Two of the food dishes were brought uncooked. The hostess lit small fuel cubes and the food cooked in their dishes over the fire. We enjoyed many of the dishes.

Addison loved the futon, our traditional Japanese bed. She especially loved playing on it.
Every evening during the summer the hotels provide o hanabi on the lake. I think you'll recognize them in this video.
