Summer vacation (part 1)

Can you believe that I went more than two weeks without posting? Me either. The week of August 14 Ian was on vacation from work. Most companies typically shut down for one week during August. August is the hottest month and the school children are off as well. However, this summer break is not the break between terms for school children. Their new term starts in April. Interesting, eh?

Since I'm already side-tracked, let me share this picture of Addison. This is the new face she makes. We call it her "Oh!" face. She makes the face and makes the "oh" noise at the same time. It's funny.

Ok, vacation. On Monday the 14th we took a river cruise down the Sumida River with the Frijas'. The weather was pretty good and we got a little breeze out on the river. It was great to see a new perspective of Tokyo. Our trip ended in Odaiba, where we had dinner at Decks. Here's a few of my favorite photos. You're welcome to check all the trip out at this link Sumida River Cruise.

(above) The boat we had hoped to take and headquarters for one of the beer companies. The golden sculpture is supposed to represent the foam off a beer.

Markus is ready to go exploring the boat!

And I'll leave you with a couple of videos. The first one was taken as we were arriving at Hinode Pier. The second one is taken at Odaiba.

The next installment will have all the fun of our trip to Hokkaido.

The sculpture...I usually don't introduce it to my guests from overseas. Looks very weired...make you feel like using WC.
