Our month started with Markus' second birthday. Rodelyn and Rodney had a small get-together. There was an undercurrent of sadness as Rodelyn's grandmother passed away the day before the party. But, as always, Rodelyn was the hostess with the mostest.
We bribed the kids with some homemade cookies to sit still for a few minutes. (l-r) Chihiro, Markus, Addison, and Kota.
Addy really couldn't help herself and had to be in the middle of the gift opening.
Rodelyn made this beautiful cake for Markus.
The second week of February brought visitors from Honda Ohio. We got to catch up with Missy and hear all about things in Ohio. Plus, I got to meet Eric, who somehow managed to escape my itchy picture-taking finger. The Frijas', Missy, Eric, and ourselves had lunch together on the 10th. Afterward Ian, Addy, and I showed Missy around a few sites. She even managed to master chopsticks!
Lunch at La Stella's
The five-story pagoda looks especially beautiful lit up.
The wall art in Asakusa station.
On 2/11 after church we had lunch at a Japanese restaurant. The style of restaurant is shyabu shyabu. There is a "pot" in the center of the table with boiling water. The waitress brings you meat and vegetables to cook in the water. Delicious!
To close out this post is a slide show of two play dates we had this month. The first was with Rie and Shoko, friends from our neighborhood. Shoko is 14 months old and has recently learned to walk. The second play date was with Sarah and her children Mia and Kai. We know them from our Polar Bear play group. Mia is 3 and Kai is almost 3 months old.
