Tokyo Lutheran Church wishes us Godspeed 03-16-08

There is no doubt that Tokyo Lutheran Church was a very important part of our lives in Tokyo. So much so that we have been unable to find a church in Columbus that fills us the way TLC did. (That's another story for another blog.) We were honored when the congregation decided to have a going-away party for us on the last Sunday we spent in Tokyo. The luncheon was planned by our dear friend Hiroko and attended by many of our English-speaking congregation members.

Our generous friends gifted us with this spectacular painting of Mt. Fuji. It hangs in our front hall and is the first thing visitors see. It's probably best that you can't see me in this picture because I was all teary-eyed.

Our friends also signed a card with a picture of our congregation inside. I didn't read the card in the restaurant. I knew better. I read it when we returned to our apartment and cried and cried. I read it again while making this post and cried some more! We really miss the warmth and friendships we made at Tokyo Lutheran Church.
