Hawaii, Beautiful Hawaii - part 2

Our first morning in Maui we found the major disadvantage of open-air condominiums. We were awoke to a neighbor at 6 a.m. yelling at his young son to hurry up and get ready. Yeah, I was at his door in a heartbeat. All he had to say was he had been woken up every morning he was there. Joy. I was able to fall back asleep for a little while after that. We were lucky the master bedroom had such a large bed, because Addison slept in between us.

We had a little breakfast and then headed for the beach. It was beautiful. The most gorgeous weather I've ever experienced. It was sunny, but not hot. A breeze made it so pleasant. We played on the beach for a few hours. I've tried not to show too much of our flesh in these pictures and embarrass ourselves. Addison loved the sand and the ocean. It was hard to convince her that we would be returning when it was time to go.

After showers and lunch we had lunch at a Mexican restaurant. Ian ate a fish taco. I had a bite. It was a fish taco. Interesting. Our next stop was the grocery store. Whoa. Talk about the sticker shock. I bought food to make one lunch, one dinner, and various breakfast supplies. It was as much as I would have spent in Ohio for an entire week of groceries. Yikes!

Our next adventure was finding the Expedia travel agent to exchange our event vouchers for tickets. What should be a quick exchange (if you ask me), turned out to be a long wait while four other customers and numerous phone calls were answered. Oy. We had to wait because we needed the vouchers to go to the Royal Lahaina Lu'au that evening. Luckily, we were in the same area as the lu'au and arrived before the show started. You can't go to Hawaii (at least for the first time) and not go to a lu'au!

Arriving at sunset for the lu'au.

There was of course, lots to drink and lots to eat including the traditionally roast pig and poi. It was all delicious.

We all enjoyed the hula dancing that followed dinner. Addy liked it until they started dancing with fire. Then she was scared and only wanted Poppa.
