Kitty-chan Land

My good friend, Sarah, invited Addison and me to go with her, her children, and another mom and child to Hello Kitty Land on Thursday, the 9th. In Japan, the home of Hello Kitty, they call her Kitty-chan. Sarah and I live on the same train line so we were able to ride the train together most of the way. We met Damahr and her son Rio at the Toyosu station near the bay area. Toyosu is an up-and-coming area. Damahr lives in this area and informed me that the land is reclaimed, in other words, a former landfill. That hasn't deterred anyone. The Toyosu area is full of new high-rises and new shopping areas. We went to LaLaPort, a new western-style mall. Kitty-chan Land is inside. First we had lunch together at a little sandwich shop.

Kitty-chan Land was a new experience for all so we were unsure what it would be like. At first I was expecting an amusement park type area, like the Ueno Kodomo Yuen. Instead, it was like a jidoukan - just a kids' play area. Ok, so a play area on a lot of sugar!
KITTY!!

Our group hanging out at the sweet shop - Rio, Addy, Mia, Damahr, Kai, and Sarah.

The Hello Kitty "boat" complete with slide into the ball pit.

"It's fun to play in the balls!"
The kids played for several hours. Running to and from the sweet shop, the boat and ball ocean, and the dance floor. I think Addy would have stayed there until she passed out from exhaustion! Another fun trip out in Tokyo.
