We met the Kruse family at a nearby shopping outlet and had lunch together. Following lunch, it was onto the Oarai Aquarium. It's a very nice aquarium and kept the attention of all five of the kids.

Buying tickets for the aquarium is just like buying tickets for the trains.
This whale skeleton is from a whale that beached itself in Oarai four years ago.
We caught the dolphin and sea loin show. Addy loved watching the dolphins jump out of the water and doing tricks.
This replica of a sun fish is true to size.
Strike a pose!
The strangest thing (to Ian and I) about the aquarium came at the very end. We proceeded through the gift shop and entered an eatery, where the specialities were fish and seafood! Seemed a little odd...
The Oarai Aquarium sits right next to the ocean, so we decided to dip our toes in. Kim and I had discussed going swimming and we were prepared with swimsuits and towels. But, it was late and it seemed that wading would be a better option. Should have known the kids would have other ideas! All the kids were soaked. Ah, well, they had a great time. :)
Our final stop for the night was Pizza Hut. We drove to the nearby town of Mito to the Pizza Hut. Bill, Kim, and the kids have not had Pizza Hut since they arrived in Japan. They live in Utsunomiya (Bill works for the auto side of Honda) and there isn't a Pizza Hut there. In Tokyo we've had it delivered to our door. The catch to eating this delicious pizza in Mito was there is no eat-in service. It's only carry-out. We were prepared for this and had a picnic dinner in the parking lot next door. The employees even delivered the pizzas to us! It was great fun. But, maybe next time, we'll just have the Kruse family to Tokyo for some delivery. :)
